Internship Tips

So, within the next week I will be starting a new internship with a financial institution. Now, I would be lying if I said I was not nervous so I looked a few tips and I just wanted share it with you guys. Here are the first five:
  • Show up on time. Tardiness is not a quality employers look for in potential hires.
  • Take only the specified break-time for lunch or coffee and always return on time.
  • Avoid missing work. If you must be absent, request permission from your supervisor in advance.
  • Dress for success. Take cues from your co-workers and dress appropriately.

Marketing 101: Marketing Strategy for Soap, Soda, and Startups

Did you know that "soap operas" actually came from soap. I came across one of the most interesting articles I've read on Forbes today. In the beginning it talks about how a new soap/detergent  company was trying to promote their new product(Detergent) in the early 1930s during the depression stricken era.

What did they do? (Read except below)

"The company decided to innovate by telling these women stories through a newly-commercialized technology called radio. Not just any stories, mind you, but compelling episodic tales of families facing strife, drama, joy and pain – often punctuated with multiple plotlines and cliffhanger endings."

This company was Procter and Gamble. What they did to catch the attention of the then poor housewife was called Content Marketing, which is when companies promote products and services with the use online( radio back then) to interest targeted consumer. Later, Procter & Gamble speedily moved its Guiding Light serial from radio to TV, following later with their debut of As the World Turns in 1956. The aptly-named “soap opera” became a staple of American culture and, by the 1970s, the most lucrative television market around. Now Procter & Gamble is one of the biggest brand advertisers on the planet.

Currently, Procter and Gamble has started a new content marketing campaign called Man of the House, which It’s a multimedia content website providing meaningful tips for men on cooking, family budgeting, parenting, and the ever faithful advice on sex and pleasing women in general.. ( Sounds Interesting Right?!)

Click on the links below to read more on what they are doing now and to see what you a startups can do to be noticed and for more info on Man of the House.

New Music: The Braxton Clan

She's back! Toni Braxton with her new club banger " I Heart You". I absolutely love it. Though the video maybe a little under budget , I still liked the interpretation. Toni's rocks her short due (which I love on her) and she showed a new side of herself with a few dance moves. The leading man: HOT!
She's not the only one with new music in the family. Check out Trina Braxton new hit " Party or Go Home"
Show some support both can be found on iTunes.

Inspiration: Judgment

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, so why are we so quickly to judge others? One thing that we have to remember is that God knows how we judge others and will judge you the same way. You must examine your life before you judge anyone; take time to think about your past mistakes, motives, sins, and your spirit. We as Christian believers can examine each other, but we are to use Christian love. Christian love is the humbleness of them all, not to be confused with hypocrisy. These three scriptures below will help you understand:

Matthew 7:1-5
New International Version (NIV)
Judging Others
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

1 Corinthians 5:12-13
New International Version (NIV)
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”[a]

Romans 3:23
New International Version (NIV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Inspiration: God's Will

Ephesians 1:11-14
New International Version (NIV)
11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Revelation 4:11
New International Version (NIV)
11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
   and have their being.”

I do declare myself as a Christian, meaning I believe and love God and his son Jesus Christ who died for our sins, but rose again. My great- grand father lived to be 102 and died in his right mind. My mother asked him why he had lived so long he replied “Every night I thanked God for this day and in his will to give me another to serve him”. That’s it. Sometimes we don’t know what we want to do with our life, but if you follow his will everything will be set in place. Further explaining God’s will means following  the ten commandments ,which is his moral will and following his severity will , that can be read in Ephesians 1: 11-14 and  Revelations 4:11. God does not control everything he is In control of everything. Think about it. In other words God’s gives you your own mind to make decisions ( right or wrong), but he decides the outcome.

Julia's Chicken

Porsche's Insights: Recipes

I tried the greatest baked chicken recipe the other day, it was from the late but great Julia Child. Try it and let me know what you think.

Recipe Below:

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Sprinkle the inside of the chicken with 1/4 teaspoons salt and 1 Tb. butter.
  3. Truss the chicken and dry it thoroughly.
  4. Rub the skin with 1 Tb. butter.
  5. In a small saucepan melt 2 tb. butter, and 1 tb. cooking oil. Set aside for basting.
  6. Place the chicken, breast up, in a shallow roasting pan. Strew the vegetables around it and set it on the rack in the middle of a preheated oven.
  7. Allow the chicken to brown lightly for 15 minutes, turning it on the left side after 5 minutes, and the right side for the remaining 5 minutes. Baste after each turn with the butter and oil mixture.
  8. Reduce oven to 350 degrees.
  9. Leave the chicken on its side and baste every 8 to 10 minutes using the fat in the roasting pan when the butter and oil are exhausted.
  10. Halfway through estimated roasting time (about 40 minutes in) salt the chicken with 1/4 teaspoons of salt and turn it on its other side. Continue basting.
  11. Fifteen minutes before the end of estimated roasting time (about 1 hour and 5 minutes in) salt again and turn the chicken breast up. Continue basting.
  12. When done, discard trussing strings and set on a hot platter. Chicken should sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes before being carved so the juices are absorbed by the meat. Chicken is done when it registers between 175 and 190 degrees, depending on your preferred doneness.
  13. While the chicken is sitting, remove all but two tablespoons of fat from the pan.
  14. Stir in the minced shallot and cook slowly for 1 minute. Add the stock and boil rapidly over high heat, letting it reduce to about 1/2 cup.
  15. Season with salt and pepper and swirl in the last 1-2 tablespoons butter.
  16. Pour a spoonful over chicken and serve the rest at the table as gravy.
